MP3 Server Box is a perl script that acts as a network interface to the rxaudio or a patched version of mpg123 player.
You can control the player via simple network socket commands from anywhere on
the network. It also features support for a MySQL table containing song information
such as title, artist name, album name, etc.
Of course you can use the same program on your workstation without extra hardware and use it like a ~normal mp3 player
But the main goal of this project is to build a box (made with old computer hardware) that play MP3 . This box look like this:
- no screen .. no video card
- no keyboard .. no mouse
- a motherboard with cpu
- some memory (~32 Mo )
- a sound card
- and of course a big hard-drive !!
- a case
- a power supply
- a network card (or not)
- a remote control or not
- a lcd as display or not
Whoa .. I forgot something I use LinuX as OS .. because It's the best !!
